Getting to Aachen
Aachen is located in the west part of Germany, at the border of Belgium and of The Netherlands. The next large cities are Cologne (~70 km), Düsseldorf (~80 km), and Brussels in Belgium (~130 km).
Aachen Central Railway Station is part of the Thalys/TGV line from Paris via Brussels to Cologne (40 minutes from Cologne, 90 minutes from Brussels). Local train connections from Cologne (60 min.) and Düsseldorf (80 min.) are available every hour. A high speed train connection from Frankfurt Airport via Cologne to Brussels is also available with a stop at Aachen. For detailed time tables and booking, consult the website of the German Railways.
There is a local airport Maastricht-Aachen Airport, which is located in Maastricht (The Netherlands), 20 km from Aachen. The airport provides connections to Amsterdam and London . To move between Aachen and the airport, you can take a taxi, rent a car, or take the bus (line 61 between the airport and Maastricht Central Railway Station and line 420 between Maastricht and Aachen). There is also a bus shuttle service between Aachen and the airport. The connection via Maastricht-Aachen Airport is a good possibility for oversea flights with destination Amsterdam.
The airport Düsseldorf International provides connections to many European and US cities. There is a direct train connection from the airport to Düsseldorf Central Railway Station, from which you can then take a train to Aachen. By car, it takes 1 hour and 20 minutes to get to Aachen via the motorway A44.
The airport Cologne/Bonn (Köln/Bonn) provides connections to many European cities as well (low-fares flight connections available). There are a direct train connection and a bus shuttle service between the airport and Cologne Central Railway Station, from which trains to Aachen are available every hour (see also Railway connections above). By car, it takes an hour to get to Aachen via the motorway A4.
Frankfurt Airport is the destination airport for most oversea flights to Germany. From there, a direct InterCityExpress connection will take you to Aachen via Cologne within 130 minutes.
From Brussels Airport, it is recommended to use the local connections to one of Brussels's main railway stations and then to take the Thalys/TGV or InterCityExpress service to Aachen/Cologne (available every two hours).
You can reach Aachen via the motorway A4 from Cologne, via A44 from Düsseldorf, via A4 from Amsterdam or Eindhoven, and via A44 from Brussels or Antwerp or Liege.
Getting to the Conference Venue
The conference will take place at the SuperC, in the city core of Aachen. The address of the building is Templergraben 57; it is located beside RWTH main building (RWTH Hauptgebäude). At the 6th floor of this building you will find the registration desk.
The nearest bus stops to the building are:
- Technische Hochschule, located directly in front of the building;
- Driescher Gässchen (RWTH Aachen), 4 minute walk from the building.
In case you travel by car, there will be a number of free parking tickets for all university parking areas provided. Please ask at the registration desk. A good place would be the parking deck located at Prof. Pirlet Str. 10, 52074 Aachen.
