Excursion and Banquet

Our social event will take place on Wednesday at the beautiful Dutch city of Maastricht, which is about 40 kilometers away from Aachen. After a guided city walk we will board a ship which takes a very beautiful tour including the river Meuse (Dutch: Maas) and the Albert Canal in Belgium. Participants will therefore visit three countries on one day, which is possible because Aachen shares the tripoint of Vaalserberg with The Netherlands and Belgium.
We will also have the conference dinner on board. The city walk will give you nice impressions of the rich history and culture of Maastricht and will include the historical Stokstraat, the Basilica of Saint Servatius, which is said to be the oldest preserved church in The Netherlands, and the famous Vrijthof.
The schedule on Wednesday will be:
| 15:00 | Bus from Aachen to Maastricht (Department at the bus stop in front of the main building next to the SuperC.) |
| 16:00 | Guided tour through Maastricht |
| 18:00 | Start of boattrip including dinner |
| 22:00 | Return to Aachen (Arrival at Elisenbrunnen at approximately 23:00.) |
If you are planning to join the excursion and/or banquet, please make sure that your visa, if applicable, is also valid for the Netherlands.
Below there are some pictures of impressions you might get during this event.
